It'll All Be All Right, Shiny-chan

So, our friend, Mr. Vorontsov, recently made some changes to the way that ENB handles specularity. I’m sure some of you will have noticed that Skyrim Academy suddenly stopped being reflective, or even shiny. That’s because I don’t use global lighting solutions in my mod, and instead prefer to rely on placed light sources, for more natural lighting, and Boris tied the specularity of ENB into directional lighting (a type of global lighting). SO, in response to this, I have now thrown out my personal preferences and added directional lighting to Skyrim Academy, where required, to restore all that specularity, and in turn, all that reflectivity, because reflections are tied into speculars too. Hue.

So here’s a bug fix release to make everything shiny and reflective again!

There are also some other small updates.
-I’ve had another look at the navmeshing. Fixed some minor errors and re-finalised all of the navmeshes. I’m hoping this will fix whatever issues some of you folks were having.
-I’ve also fixed 5 meshes which had incorrect collision properties. Some were too big, some were the wrong shape, and some were just completely displaced (the chairs, for example).
-I’ve also redone some of the lighting in the main building, to try and provide a warmer atmosphere at night, and stop the school seeming so damned creepy.
-I’ve also fixed the doors! That’s right. The doors now open ALL the way, so you should be able to walk on through them without having to squidge through that tiny little gap.
-Lastly, the mod is no longer packed in a compressed .bsa. It IS still packed into a .bsa file, for easy install and uninstall, but the compressed .bsa file has caused some people crashes and other issues. Mostly on low-end systems and 32-bit systems, but all the same, I strive to provide as optimal an experience as possible. This means the mod takes up considerably more space on your hard drive now, but should no longer cause you any possible crashes.

Until next time.

Gekkoukan High Uniform

Well, someone had to do it eventually, right? I mean, we have the Aigis outfit, and the Velvet Room… and you know, now I think about it, I brought both of those things to Skyrim, so I guess if anyone was going to do this, it was also gonna be me.

Anyway, here it is. Gekkoukan High Uniform. Female only. Sue me. I made it from the ground up. It’s pretty high poly, and the textures are pretty high res, so if your machine isn’t so good, anticipate a little trouble.

I’m pretty proud of this, since it’s my first real creation. I know I made the Aetherian Armour, but that wasn’t exactly a testing trial, since it’s a very simple outfit.

There’s some clipping and stretching with the skirt. I tried my best to strike a balance, but honestly, skirts in Skyrim are a joke. You get what you get.

I hope you enjoy it.

Skyrim Academy v78

So, in other updates, however small they may be, I have a minor offering for Skyrim Academy. The actual additions in this update are practically non-existent, but there is one very important feature which I felt deserved a whole release.

Navmeshing.

Yes, that’s right, now you can bring your follower and they will ACTUALLY FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE LOCATION.

The other thing in the update is the addition of one more room to the Photographer’s studio, which is the wet room, pictured above.

As always, the download link stays the same, and this is it: http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/Skyrim/SkyrimAcademy.7z

Enjoy!

Skyrim Pose Collection v1.1

I don’t know whether to call this a small release or not. I mean, all of the changes in this version were completely unplanned, and just happened as a result of my day to day screwing around. That’s why you’re looking at a 0.01 version increase. Unplanned additions will always be numbered small. (more…)

Sometimes…

v0.7

…just sometimes, it’s all worth while.

That, friends, is the Velvet Room. It’s velvety, and roomlike.

It’s also blue.

And did I mention velvety?

v0.7

All right, so when I am working really hard on something, my estimates of time tend to be a little longer than things actually take, because I fail at taking breaks.

So here is Skyrim Academy v0.7, and this update is a pretty massive one.

Here’s a small list of SOME of the things that have been added with the 0.1 increase:

  • Added the bases for a couple of new areas. Nothing much yet, but the club building and the sports hall now exist.
  • This one should have been in the update notes for the last update, as well as this one, but added background music for all areas. Different areas have different tracks. I forgot to credit it in the readme, but all the music comes from the Persona 5 Fan OST.  If you like the tracks, you can listen to the whole massive compilation of music here: http://www.youtube.com/user/ATLUSxP5
  • FINISHED the main school building, including a main gate with some pretty LOD and some dirty little secrets which you can read about in the full changelog in the readme.
  • Did all kinds of optimisation, such as decreasing the number of shadow casters in the maps. This should pull some extra FPS for some, at the expense of a little realism.
  • Combined the .esp/.esm pair into one single .esp, and packed files into a compressed .bsa. This means the mod is now easier to install, and takes up 1/3 of the space on your hard drive. On top of that, I will be using the .bsa format from now on, so the mod will be simple to upgrade to future versions. HOWEVER, PLEASE READ THE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS. They’re important this time.
  • You now get a spell to take you to the school, and can fast travel out of the main building, so no more developer console like a beta tester.
  • Lots of other little fixes, improvements and just general better-than-the-last-version-ness.

I also just wanted to take a moment this time around to offer a thanks to Higeyoshi. I’m sure some of you have seen his classroom studio mod. It was that mod which, in part, inspired this mod.

Here’s the download link, and I hope you all enjoy the update: http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/Skyrim/SkyrimAcademy.7z

I don’t know when the next update will be, since I intend to take a little break from all this modding, but you can expect it sooner, rather than later.

Halo.

v0.6

I know it’s a little soon (only a day later, in fact) but v0.6 is here. You’re probably wondering why I decided to drop an update this quickly, and the simple reasons are 1: I added a shitton of new content in the past 24 hours, I just didn’t have to make many new meshes, so it was fast enough work. 2: This is the last possible stopping point before I move into the next phase of the mod. Due to the nature of my next planned update, which I don’t want to reveal just yet (in case I cop out and decide not to go forward with it), I won’t be able to make any more releases until a pretty bulky piece of work is done and dusted.

With that in mind, I decided to mash all the new stuff back into a nice little package and ship it out for download.

Some important things to note about this update.

  • A great deal of optimisation has been done in order to save space on your hard drive and improve performance in your game. The mod should be much more friendly to lower end PCs now, as well as anyone without much hard drive space to spare.
  • The coc location (cell name) has changed. This may cause some trouble for anyone saved inside the school building. I recommend making a save elsewhere before you update.
  • If you’re upgrading from previous versions, make absolutely sure to read the upgrading notes. The jump from version 0.5 to 0.6 needs you to clean out the old files, unless you want an extra 100mb worth of leftover files which aren’t needed any more.

Thanks to HoneyVanity for providing the release image today, and I hope you all enjoy the update as much as I enjoyed making it.

Halo.

EDIT: And one last thing. A lot of parts of the building link together now. You can effectively make a loop around the open grounds, so make sure to explore. I’d hate for anyone to miss anything.

EDIT 2: EVERYTHING in the mod was made by me. Any resemblance to Higeyoshi’s classroom studio is probably due to the fact that I played his before making mine.

EDIT 3: And another big herp derp in the readme. The music tracks come from the Persona 5 Fan Soundtrack.

v0.5

So, I’ve been doing work with this for a few days now, as my previous posts implied.

Since I’ve never really done any serious original work before, this is a pretty interesting project for me. Originally it just started out as the school pool at night mod, which was basically just a spur of the moment “we need a pool” conversation that I had with a friend (HoneyVanity), but as I worked on it, I got into the swing of things, and rather than re-purposing existing content, I started making original content, using new textures and really working at it.

v0.5

After that was done, another conversation, for the most part a joke, was that now we needed a nurse’s office, but after initially laughing it off, I started to like the idea.

That began as a little room with a few beds and a curtain, but turned into a large office, and me being the king of over the top that I am, I fabricated a large portion of a school building for the sake of “what you can see out of the window”, including a sprawling courtyard.

v0.5

That was released as the Nurse’s Office mod.

Since I dropped that one, I’ve been looking a lot at what I want to move onto, but I just kept seeing more possibilities for what I could do with this school idea.

After some work shoring up the foundations and coming up with new ideas, Skyrim Academy has come into being.

I will say right now, I DO NOT have plans to make an entire school complex here. However, I do have plans to continue to expand on this mod, creating new parts to the school, and new peripheral locations, as time goes on.

v0.5

With that in mind, I’m pretty happy to release the first combined version of this mod, which I have dubbed Skyrim Academy (yes, it was all I could do not to put Gakuen in the name).

At the moment, you can get to the school by either typing “coc schoolpool” or “coc nursesoffice” into your console (something I completely forgot to mention in the readme). Rather than spoil the fun for you, I’ll let you all discover just what there is to see at this early stage.

You can download the mod here: http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/Skyrim/SkyrimAcademy.7z

Enjoy your visit.
