Skyrim Academy v78

Skyrim Academy v78

So, in other updates, however small they may be, I have a minor offering for Skyrim Academy. The actual additions in this update are practically non-existent, but there is one very important feature which I felt deserved a whole release.

Navmeshing.

Yes, that’s right, now you can bring your follower and they will ACTUALLY FOLLOW YOU AROUND THE LOCATION.

The other thing in the update is the addition of one more room to the Photographer’s studio, which is the wet room, pictured above.

As always, the download link stays the same, and this is it: http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/Skyrim/SkyrimAcademy.7z

Enjoy!

Halo.

It was fun walking around exploring the grounds. Most the doors wouldn’t open though, despite there obviously being stuff behind them. I had to use the Disable command. And there were a loooooot of doors….

Still. It’s a pretty beautiful place. A lot of the textures seem flat, but I can live with that.
I’d love to see the academy fully completed with actual NPCs attending classes or teaching classes.

    • Halofarm July 19, 2013 1:30 pm  Reply

Everything that’s behind a door you can’t open is a background area. You didn’t *have* to disable anything. They weren’t meant to be disabled. You’re about the only person who’s complained about flat textures. If you mean the textures which are *supposed* to seem flat, like the chair legs, that would be because they’re meant to seem flat. The biggest complaint I’ve had about SA is that the textures were too detailed and heavy. I had to tone a lot of it down.

It will never be completed. The design of the cell makes it impossible to fill out every single classroom. Since you can see right from one end of the map to the other, there’s too many meshes and textures to fill in everything.

I only ever intended it to be a screenshooting location. Not a quest or NPC hub. That’s why it’s tagged with “screenshooting”.

  9. Cipherthe3vil July 19, 2013 2:23 pm  Reply

Mmm…. Perhaps flat isn’t the right word. I wont bother trying to explain it as I don’t see it as a problem.

This would make a fantastic base for a horror quest mod.

Background area… ? No, I don’t think so. I have to disable doors to get to areas that are clearly populated, like the stairwell with the Velvet room door. The hallway for this nurse looking room place… thingy…

I think about half of all the doors require the Disable command to pass, or more.
I’d really like it if the doors would open wider. It’s kinda weird, squeezing through. Though you just clip through, not exactly squeezing.

This place is a lot of fun to explore. Would you allow others to use it as a base for other mods? Quest mods. Like someone might make a school-life mod (I never really thought that would be appealing until I graduated. I miss high school already .-.), or a horror mod as I mentioned~<3

    • Halofarm July 19, 2013 2:36 pm  Reply

Well, any doors which go to clearly populated areas 100% definitely open. You’re the first person to mention it, so I suspect you just need to look around a little more for the activator. It can be tricky to find. The sliding doors and their activators work on a vanilla based animation and activator, that’s why they’re awkward to find, and don’t open very wide. There’s nothing I can do about it, because the animations are very touchy. As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

As for being used as a base, anyone is welcome to use it, but I will continue updating it in the future, possibly even for years to come, so using it as a base might prove tricky as new updates come out.

I see. With your comment I decided to push through, and I see what it is. It’s a specific path through the building, that’s why most doors do not work. A little weird imo but now that I know whats up I’m cool with it~

Also, the Shadow room destroyed my game e,…,e Lucky for autosaves though. That was some major bug-out. It is of course undoubtedly on my end. My computer is like 10 years old.

GAH I love this mod so much. I just wish there was more to do.

    • Halofarm July 19, 2013 8:54 pm  Reply

Well, the path through the building was a logical progression. Initially the mod was just the nurse’s office and everything else was to be seen from the window. As I added more, when I was deciding what to fill in and what not to fill in, the various parts all fit together best by creating a path to follow. It stops your game from having to render too much at once by keeping things far apart, and helps to prevent overloading of texture memory and RAM, since I can’t use conventional means, due to the rather see-through nature of a lot of the building.

Yeah, the shadow room has 4 show casters in a very small area, which is quite uncommon, plus a lot of overlapping lighting. On older machines it might cause some problems.

First off, you’re amazing. Do you have any plans to bring any modern building like this into Skyrim? It would be fun to have a small town built like this and filled out with npc’s.

    • Halofarm August 1, 2013 10:10 am  Reply

No plans. I don’t really like the idea of putting a modern town directly into the Skyrim world.

I found a room called ?????? i went in and it was dark and someone (i couldnt see there face) was walking up to me it was creepy as crap any help on what it is? D:

    • Halofarm October 29, 2013 3:40 pm  Reply

Uhh… the room called ???????? is a corridor. You follow the area of light to the door at the end. There shouldn’t be anyone walking up to you, unless your brought a follower.

I’m new to modding but I figured out how to make a basic dungeon using bethesda walls/floors. However when I try to use static objects from 0halofarm they all show up as red squares with “!” in the middle. What do I have to do to get them to show up? Likewise when I load skyrimacademy in Cell View after making it active mod in data I don’t see any of the custom walls/floors you made in the preview. It’s just a bunch of red shapes with “!”. When I go to the academy in game everything is fine though. Am I missing some files or just not activating something correctly?

Again, all the default objects by Bethesda work fine, I just can’t get yours to work :,(

    • Halofarm October 31, 2013 11:00 pm  Reply

If you want to get anything from Skyrim Academy to work, you need to go to the creation kit SkyrimEditor.ini file in your main Skyrim game folder and find “SArchiveList” and “SResourceArchiveList2″ and add SkyrimAcademy.bsa into both of those lists.

hello there, thanks for the mod!
just a little question, is it normal when i bring some followers they just standing at the entrance and not following me? thanks

    • Halofarm November 1, 2013 11:08 am  Reply

The whole place is navmeshed, so no, it shouldn’t be that way.
I’ve tested followers and they all work absolutely fine for me.
There might be an option in some followers’ AI which prevents them from walking in certain areas, even if they are navmeshed. I really don’t know though. It sounds odd to me.

I have to report a conflict with another mod: SkyRadio — for some reason the game CTDs while that mod and the Academy are active. So I had to remove Skyradio (the author’s MIA, unfortunately) because of this glitch.

    • Halofarm November 3, 2013 7:03 pm  Reply

I’m already aware of this incompatibility. I’m not sure why it occurs, but I would assume it has something to do with custom music files, as Skyrim Academy uses a custom soundtrack.

      • FiftyFourSeven November 4, 2013 3:49 pm  Reply

About the only way to do is probably edit Skyradio to use a different directory or not use it at all.

Do you think you could send me the music you used in the mod please? It was removed off the original channel and I’m having a really hard time finding a few of them.

    • Halofarm December 4, 2013 9:52 am  Reply

I’m afraid I can’t. I don’t have the folder of songs any more. There used to be a folder of them online, which is where I downloaded them all, but I can’t find that either, I’m afraid.

  18. danuser45 December 4, 2013 11:07 pm  Reply

That’s fine, I found a few of them at least. Also thanks for the great mod. I love it. :)

Amazing mods! Can you bring the academy on skyrim? I mean like, next to whiterun or something. Those modern buildings would look great there. Good stuff, keep it up :)

    • Halofarm February 19, 2014 8:02 pm  Reply

No. That would be impossible. You can’t put existing interior cells on exterior landscapes, unfortunately.

Before I used the old version of the Academy and it was working fine but now I’m doing all that in writing on the site you kindly give me. Same, the book is not under the bed . . .

    • Halofarm December 16, 2014 11:35 pm  Reply

I dunno then. The academy has been out of date for about a year in favour of the Aether Suite, and you’re the first person to tell me they can’t find the book that hasn’t forgotten to activate the mod. You could try using “help “aether suite”” in the console and then seeing if the book or spell comes up, then adding them to your inventory from there.

That’s because you are. Skyrim Academy does not exist as a standalone any more. It’s part of the Aether Suite now.
