High Poly Hands and Feet 4.0

Merry Christmas! It’s that day of the year again! Presents!

So, another version of this. I’ve had this one sitting around a little while, but I’ve been umming and ahing over whether or not to release it. I’ve improved the weighting on the hands quite significantly (around the fingers), and I’ve also dumped the flat excessively high poly toenails in exchange for some much nicers, slightly 3D ones, which also use the full UNP toenail UV map, so no more need for any special snowflake resources to make your toenails work right!

    Thanks for the new version! Altough, ever since v2 i noticed that the fingernails models have been merged and aren’t separate anymore, the problem here is that i prefer a lot more seeing the hands with short nails (without those tips), so months ago i actually managed to import the NIF file into 3d studio max, and noticed that the fingernails tips could be removed (as elements), so i did just that and then i saved using the 3d studio max nif exporter. Altough since i always got problems with the zero transforms and, obviousy, the nif file always coming VERY diferent from the original one (it also grew to 2mb size), i had to copy/paste the mesh geometry branches with nifskope and it actually worked (it does really make a big difference to me the nails not having the tips), altough one of the problems is that of the geometry losing it’s smooth settings.

    But now recently i found this new v4 and i would like to find a better way to do this… can’t you start providing a optional folder version without the fingernail tips included? OR a additional download.

    Ok, perhaps this isn’t a frequently asked request by people, so at least tell me exactly which scripts and settings you use in blender (and which blender version) to import and export the nif file (so far i wasn’t even able to import them in blender 2.49b, it will take ages if i start fiddling with all settings by trial and error, same problem in studio max) so that i get the closest nif file possible if i try to export the nif after deleting the fingernails tips element in the mesh.

      Redownload the archive. There’s now an “Optional v4 Hands With No Fingernails” folder inside the Extras folder.

        Wow thanks so much, this is exactly what i wanted, and besides i am sure there’s more persons also prefering the nails like this, also don’t forget to always keep this option in future versions as well!

        And please keep up the good work, this is by far the best hands and feet mod there is for skyrim i ever seen, so i was a afraid i would have to spend hours figuring out how to save the nif file correctly just to remove the nails tips :D

        Another thing, which texture mod are you using in the screenshots ? Fair skin ? I ask this because it’s hard to find a texture mod with palms and soles textures that pleases me, so far the fair skin mod is the one that i appreciate more (ONLY in the unp version, strangely the cbbe version is a lot worse for me).

        That was only for v3. Those are not used any more. I don’t use anything custom now. If you want good normals or speculars for these, I use fair skin’s.

    Hi Halo,

    My question is very simple. If I use your hands and feet, and if i bodyslide them just after, do I keep the High poly? Or does the bodyslide overwrite your meshes?

      Well, these don’t work with bodyslide. If you want to use them with bodyslide, you’d install them AFTER you apply bodyslide, but you also need to make sure your seams match one of the 3 body options. (Most have standard UNP seams)

        It seems the UUNP hands and feet that come with Bodyslide are pretty high-poly as well (over 5,000 vertices and almost 10,000 triangles for the hands). Would you be so kind as to explain in layman’s terms in which areas your hands are superior? Thanks very much in advance.

    I never thought I’d say this.. but those toenails tho!
    *comes crawling back* I grovel at your feet :P

    Would it be possible for a total noob to, say… import your foot models into Blender or something so that one could curve the big toes upwards a bit? and round out the bottom of them.

        Any sage advice on how I would go about doing that? I’ve messed around with Maya back in the day FYI.. I feel like I might have a handle on how to do it.. I know it’s not the same as 3DS Max or Blender, but how different could they be

          I’d suggest looking up tutorials, rather than asking me. I can’t really type a whole tutorial in the responses here. There are a lot of good ones on the blender community site itself, written by much better teachers than me.

    I’ve always used UUNP special and built the feet and hands in bodyslide. Then I installed this mod, but it seems like my game is still using the old feet meshes.

    Any idea how to overwrite the old ones ?

      Paste the contents of your preffered version inside the data folder and allow overwrites.

          It’s not from a mod. I made it. Just the same as I made every other one of my characters’ faces. It’s just sculpted.

    so what is install process to have ingame morphing body without seams? i completely fucked up all with bodies and skins. (if possible, detailed and with links, thx)

      Well, if you’re talking about UUNP, if you want to morph the body without seams, you just need to make sure not to use 0% sliders on 100% body or 100% sliders on 0% body. If you mix your weights on the wrong end, you fuck up the seams. All the other morphs won’t mess up the seams at all. So for example, don’t use 7B0 100% slider and also UNP 0% slider at the same time. Then the seams will get broken.

      I already said no to the last one. These feet don’t even use custom ones. The hands have no reason for it. I have no idea why you’re even asking. All my demo shots use fair skin.

    Halofarm – I’ve seen you answer previous related questions above, but if I am using UUNP BodySlide, 7B Bombshell and Fairskin and want to get your hands to work when the Bodyslide weight slider is set to zero – how do I go about doing that? I am currently seeing a seem and size or shape mismatch when I go to create or alter a character and set the weight to zero in Racemenu. Any assistance is appreciated.

      That shouldn’t be the case unless there’s something weird with the sliders. Honestly, there’s not that big of a difference between the versions of my hands in UUNP and the ones here. Just some slight weighting improvements. If you’re having trouble getting them to match up, you might be better off just using the UUNP version for your own sanity. I’m confused as to why they wouldn’t be working if you didn’t accidentally do something with the sliders to cause it. Perhaps it’s the specific version of 7B? I think a couple of the UUNP sliders still use the old custom seams.

      Goma’s permissions are free-to-use with credits. You just have to credit him. You don’t need to worry about asking. If you need anything other than permissions from him in future, please consider creating a tumblr account and contacting him via tumblr. It has become quite a problem having people try to contact him here. That’s why his page is now locked.

        How hard would it be to adapt these hands to have long claws?
        Me and a couple of others are making a UNP Bodyslide for SE and we’re going to use your hands and feet.

          Probably not too difficult. You’d only really need to pull around a few vertices. It depends on how complex you want to make it. The vanilla beast hands are just pointy fingers, but you could also actually add some form of claws to it.

    Hi Halofarm… thanks for your awesome work. I’m looking to work your v4 hands and feet into the TMBE body for SSE that I’m maintaining. Thing is, while working on it, when an NPC follower is sneaking, I’m seeing a tiny seam that sometimes appears on the left wrist (left facing the NPC, right from the NPC’s perspective). I’m actually seeing it with ALL hands and feet that I’ve found, in both UNPB and TMB (which is UNP based) bodies, except for vanilla body/hands and Bijin UNP body/hands. It’s not a size mismatch even at different weights, it’s just a tiny gap between the two, and again mostly only visible when the NPC is sneaking (though I did catch one picture where it’s visible standing). I don’t really know how this all works, but is it perhaps possible to make the wrist extend just a tiny bit higher so it can cover this gap somehow? Here’s some screenshots (ignore the single butt picture, that’s for an unrelated issue):


    If you can’t replicate the issue, please let me know that too. Thanks for any help you can provide.

      I don’t use SSE, and I’ve never had this issue myself, so I don’t really know what to tell you. If you’re looking to fix it, you’d be best off to check the issue for yourself in a 3D program or something.

    Okay, FYI, it looks like we’ve figured out what was going on. The hands in your download appear to be sided to and work great with the UNP body, but with UNPB and TMBE and presumably any other UNP shape, matching hands have to be generated through oldrim Bodyslide. For example, preset “UUNP – UNPB” and outfit “Unified UNP Hands” will create hands that match seamlessly with the UNPB body. The good news is that based on the file size, it looks like Bodyslide is also generating high poly versions, and indeed the Bodyslide mod credits you for providing “Unified UNP Feet and Hands”. Whether it’s v4 or an earlier version, I can’t tell.

      UUNP uses ancient v1 or v2 (I think v1). If there’s a problem with UNPB seams or bodies based on UNPB, that pretty much just means they’re not actually UNP compatible, doesn’t it? I mean, I was under the impression UNPB and its variants were UNP compatible, but it these work with UNP and not UNPB, that sort of makes it clear. Also, they work with UNPCM as well, which is a direct UNP variant. So they probably work with anything which is a direct UNP variant which didn’t alter the seams.

        Understood, didn’t know that standardized feet and hand seams was part of the definition of the UNP standard (since CBBE seems to require bodyslid hands and feet too). The maintainer of the UNPB SSE body is aware of the issue. As for the TMBE body, the author is in the process of making the body fit seamlessly with your v4, so it will be truly UNP compliant shortly. Thanks for the help.

          Well, I’d always taken “UNP compatible” to mean UV map and seams. I suppose it could just be UV map only. Either way, that’s good to hear.

    Hey Halofarm, I know you said that your character’s horns aren’t a mod or an item and that you sculpted them onto her head, but wouldn’t that just mean it’s a modified femalehead.nif with modified textures? Really interested in them cause they look crazy awesome, and far are better than any horn mod I’ve ever seen.

      It does mean that, but I still can’t share them, because the nif is custom and wouldn’t work properly with… well anything. It hasn’t got proper morphs for chargen and wouldn’t be compatible with any chargen overhauls. I’d basically just be sharing the character’s face, and I don’t want to do that.

      No. The UVs don’t match up for CBBE textures. You need CBBE feet.
