Merry Christmas!
That’s right. I haven’t forgotten about everybody this year. I ended up with a pretty nasty bug right before Christmas, so it was a rush to the finish, BUT I have got some updates for you.
Here’s what’s been added in this update:
Added 4 new cells to the Hot Springs Hotel location. Now it’s more like an actual hot springs hotel. The foyer, the dining area, the rec room, and the courtyard. The courtyard is gonna make your machine chug. ENB does NOT like all that foliage.
Added 3 new cells to the Red Robin Lounge. 2 private rooms, and also a bathroom in the En Suite, so now the En Suite is an actual En Suite and not just misnamed.
Updated Lily’s Aethernet Dash with even more buttons! A whole new top row.
Other various small tweaks and fixes, including improvements to the glass walls which I did such a good job of messing up in the last release.
It might not sound like much, but my focus this time was basically on making the hot springs hotel into a full screenshooting location. It’s not finished yet though! There’s more to come in future updates.
Without further ado, here’s the download: Download
Have fun!
Loving it Halo! It just keeps getting better and better!
Curious as to whether you’re planning on expanding on Knox as a larger feature at some point, either with its own worldspace or simply multiple city cells? I’ve already expanded the main street and city blocks tenfold myself, and created my own little havens in Knox, but I would simply prefer to see it done by you.
This isn’t; “Make Knox cooler”, this is; “You’re fantastic. I have a genuine query.”
I’m enjoying the new areas and whatnots, though, let my questions not take away from that!
Take care Chris x
It’s not an easy task to make Knox larger. A lot of people don’t have the systems to be able to handle huge city blocks made like main street. My own machine already struggles. Sadly, as cool as it would be to build Knox up into a genuine city, even if I put it into a true exterior worldspace, it would be too much for most systems to deal with.
That’s what I figured actually, such a shame! But understandable.
I also noticed you didn’t sign off with – Halo, this time, and this is unrelated, aaand I know it’s pointless here like you’ve said, but it feels like something is missing now. And my head hurts.
Stay golden~
thanks again for you great job, halo! i love much the aether suite ^_^ can you put one more
button for more light in the undergrind?
a faithful follower. greetings!
I don’t think I could put more light options in the undergrind, mostly because of how difficult it is to alter so much at once. It’s a ridiculously painful process to link that many different objects into an X marker. It takes a long time, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong.
okey! thx for reply, halo!
waiting for the new update.. desirous as ever!! hahaha
I had the 2.8.0 update of aether suite and when i saw this i downloaded and installed the newest version. After doing this none of my saves would load (just CTD after a small delay on smoke screen) and if i created a new character as soon as i left customization menu it would crash. I loved this mod and deleted everything before installing the slightly older version; 3.0.0 that didn’t work either. Love your mods and if you have any suggestions on how i could fix the problem that would be great
Never heard of this problem before. I think 2.8 – 3.0 is a pretty big update, but since I haven’t altered any core files in that time, I can’t imagine why you’d be having any kind of CTD related to this mod. The mod is specifically built to avoid game breaking stuff like that, so I’m really not sure what to suggest.
Thanks for the information just reinstalled the old 2.8.0 update and it works fine, i guess ill just have to keep with the old stuff for a while. I’m sure ill fix it in the future somehow. Thanks for the quick reply anyway :).
I wish I could help more, but unfortunately no one else has reported any issues like this. The worst report I had was one person who had CTDs in Arclite Community College. Most of my friends use the mod and haven’t reported anything like this either, so I’m really at a loss. Did you try just messing with your load order a bit? I’d like to think there wasn’t some sort of conflict going on, but who knows with Skyrim? It’s not stable on the best of days.
I spent a few hours activating and deactivating ESPs/ESMs and ended up deleting a few useless/unneeded mods. Somehow it fixed the problem although I was unable to find what specific mod caused the conflict. So glad I can now use your mod, Great work!
It’s possible you simply overloaded your game. Sometimes if you have too much stuff installed, the game just sort of… dies. Maybe the increase in assets from 2.8 to 3.0 was enough to tip it over the edge.
I agree skyrim is always has problems. I guess its just some sort of incompatibility. Later this week when i have some time ill do a run through my load order to see if its a particular mod causing the problem. Who knows if i find anything ill leave a comment in case the is a future issue. Thanks again for your help :D.
you’ve tried eliminating npcs or anything you ‘d put in the 2.8.0?
It is just an idea
Hey, Halo. I’ve just gotten into modding myself, and I was wondering if I could ask you a question.
I’m trying to find a way to play custom combat music only in certain (custom) zones. As far as I’m aware, you are the only mod author to have figured that out.
How did you manage to get the nightmare troll to prompt his combat music? I don’t see any conditions in the creation kit.
I didn’t figure it out, sadly. I simply cheated. The music which plays in the nightmare is very quiet, and the troll combat music is very loud, so you can’t hear that the normal music is actually still playing at the same time. What I actually did was simply force played the music in the cell itself with an audio marker, using trigger boxes. Those same trigger boxes also trigger the troll to spawn and unspawn. Basically, it was a sneaky trick to work around the problem in question.
Yeah, I ended up figuring about about the trigger boxes shorty after I sent that message. :/
I’ll let you know if I find out about how to make that happen.
I love the Aether Suite so far, but can we find anyone other than Blake in Knox?
Nope. Just him.
hi halo, how are you?
Can you plz tell what ENB you use and what ENB you used in the PIC above
Mine. I can’t release it. Too many parts I can’t get permission to release.
Ok, np. Thanks.
I’ve always absolutely adored the work that’s gone into the Aether Suite (particularly Knox), but sadly, I stopped playing Skyrim some time ago, largely because my master save game crashed.
I’ve now focussed on other games and I wanted to know – would you ever be interested in making a version of the Aether Suite for Fallout 4?
I’m quite a novice at modding, but even I can tell this would a huge effort. I’m just curious as to whether this is something that interests you or not.
I had considered porting it, or starting a similar project, once I have the *proper* tools for the job. A lot would depend on if I (or anyone) will be able to make poses for Fallout 4. Since the AS, to me, is a huge screenshooting playhouse, my desire to port it or start a similar project depends entirely on a: if I’ll have poses to make it worthwhile and b: if I’ll have the tools to be able to do it.
Thanks for replying. Hopefully once the GECK comes out, it really should get the ball rolling on other modding tools coming out.
My basic understanding is that FO4 is running a slightly tweaked version of the Skyrim engine, so hopefully that makes you life easier, if you choose to port this wonderful work across.
I can tell you that the tweaking is far more than slight. Having seen the insides of an FO4 nif, it’s plainly obvious that without a proper blender nifscripts update, I’m not gonna be able to do much of anything. Bearing that information in mind, consider the fact they still haven’t even moved out of alpha for Skyrim support.
I (naively) hadn’t considered the required recalibration of Blender. I was purely thinking of the GECK.
Oh well, I guess all we can do is hope that things will be simple… or at least, not awful.
Time will tell.
Just finished my tour of the Aether Suite…all 4 hours of it, and I am flabbergasted at the quality/content. Knox feels almost more real than Skyrim does in atmosphere, and had me smiling in wonder the whole time..up until I found ward 4. Then terrified in the school. It then had me near pissing myself when I unwisely went to the nightmare (I actually missed the flashlight, and did it all with normal torches…). Quite literally, the only way you could make the nightmare worse than it is is if you had a swimming section with deep water/unknown depths, and something threatening/a feel of danger from them. That said, the whole mod is incredibly well done, and was a blast to explore!
Thanks. Yeah, the nightmare was just sort of a random thought I had at one point which ended up being its whole own thing. I have had people tell me it doesn’t fit with the AS, but I told them the only person who can say what fits with the AS is the guy who made it.
Is it possible to replace Skyrim with this?
Say, Incorporating this with the Alternate Start Mod so we’re automatically teleported to the lobby after laying down in the bed?
Might be. I won’t make that though, if you are interested in that kind of thing, you might have to ask someone to make it. You could just immediately coc aethersuitelobby.
Hi Halo. I love you Aether Suite and pose mods! I was wondering if it’d be practical to use something like My Home is Your Home to “store” my followers in various parts of the aether suite. that way, when I wanted to come grab one or use one for screenshots, I could just get them where I leave them.
Like, could I just leave some in the apartment, some in club area, one in the store etc without them getting lost in the void?
Thanks again for making and sharing this great mod. also, on a side note, it seems that some modders are already making poses for Fo4. I gues it’ll be more prominent when the geck comes out in April. I can’t wait to see what you come up with in the future. I could just imagine turning the Aether Suite into a settlement, haha.
I actually have never used my home is your home, so I really don’t know how it works. I’m afraid you’d just have to try it and see.
As for FO4. If enough people start making poses, maybe I won’t ever have to bother. That’d be nice. I’ve spent 4 years making them for Skyrim. I could use a break.
Thanks for the fast reply! i’ll have to just try it then. If it works, I’ll post here just in case anyone stumbles onto this in the future.
Speaking of making poses, have you considered making them in Second Life? Assuming you aren’t familiar with Second Life, you can make just about anything and sell it for “Linden Dollars” (the ingame currency) and exchange it for real life cash. Everyone who sells clothings there (like myself), skin, hair, body shapes, etc etc are always buying poses from pose makers to take screenshots of our products. The great thing is that you can set permissions on them so they can never be resold and they can’t be taken from the game and such. It’s a really neat set up. I don’t make a living from selling stuff, but I’ve managed to make a good bit of “pocket change” over the last 9 years.
You could also upload bits of the Aether Suite there as well. “Mesh” buildings sell really well for high prices there. You don’t even have to give them proper exteriors. I’ve seen apartments similar to yours go for around $10 to $25 USD. Just something I thought I’d share with you in case you were looking to make some cash off of your hard work. After taking hundreds of screenshots in Skyrim, I’ve always caught myself saying (man, I wish someone made a pose like this Second Life).
If you’re interested, I’d totally be willing to help you get started. The program used to make animations and poses is super easy to use. I imagine an expert like you could do wonders with it.
I’m not really interested in modding for the purpose of selling. Modding is just something I do for fun in my spare time. I appreciate when people want to give me donations, but I loathe the idea of making things people actually have to pay for. I’m happy with how things are now. Thanks for the information though.
Wow, this keeps surprising me more and more, it’s getting even more fantastic! It’s a shame my PC doesn’t like all those textures and lags a bit (my poor 630 will explode someday i’m sure of it…) But still, i’m liking to see this progressing and i already found various creepy and amazing things that were probably vestiges of your intial ideas of making this a quest mod. (Like the “Warm Pig Blood” on the Hotel is coffe dispensers, the Warrens and its troll-like monsters, the Redoran Ward’s secondary school and its Aetherial Bursts, etc. And it’s a shame it wasn’t a quest mod, hopefully you will revive this idea. This is not one of those “make Knox cooler” comments it’s a genuine “Hey, this mod is cool as f*ck already and i would love to see this getting even more deep and interesting” comment. Thanks for being so fantastic Halo.
Unfortunately, my ideas for a quest mod have long since been abandoned since I’ll never realistically be able to complete it. As it is, it’s nowhere near what I had originally planned, and it’s years old.
That is a shame, but I still enjoy this mod and my day isn’t over until I check if there is a new update! Keep up with the good work Halo!
Ah, I can understand it. In Second Life, it’s not really considered modding since the platform was made for nothing but user created content that could shared as art. Sort of like a commissioned digital art painting. I agree selling of mods is terrible though, especially single player games.
You could also create the Aether Suite within Second Life and setup a donation jar for those who visit.
Anyways, thanks for all your hard work in Skyrim!
Halo I just wanted to convey my great appreciation for you and the hard work you have freely contributed to my Skyrim experience . I have enjoyed your mods for many years . you are an amazing talented artist and I am truly thankful for your being .
Halo, youre Aether Suite is awesome. It will be awesome to bring “life” to this location. And this little stories about school, and flashing messages on the streets… immersive! I can imagine argonians, warming their hands with fire from the barrels, ork near the club entrance as a security, imperials and nords in modern clothes dancing in the club, and going to their homes at sunrise… damn this will be awesome, especialy because the base location is fully made. Is it navmeshed? Also, it will be awesome to add players characters who used this place for screenshots as custom NPC. Idle markers for dancing in the club… wow. I think i know what i will be doing next month =)
p.s. Sorry for bad english,it’s not my native language.
Literally the best mod ive installed. Just finished exploring it all. Please keep up the good work!!!
No matter how many times I venture through Knox, it’s always a remarkable experience.
Put off trying this out for a very long time (due to forgetfulness). Finally got around to it and I’m really blown away; great music choice, great atmosphere, great assets, and the voice overs were pretty stellar in my opinion. Shame you’re no longer actively working on it as a quest mod, although it’s quite understandable since it requires a lot of work. However it’s still pretty wonderful finding things and piecing them together on their own.
Tried forcing the actual rain weather on and it was pretty nice: https://a.pomf.cat/zpmnoa.jpg
You shouldn’t need to force the rain weather on. Knox has its own special rain weather which gets forced on when you enter Knox. Perhaps the script didn’t fire for you for some reason.
Oh no, to clarify that did work (really, everything worked as it presumably should have), I simply wanted to see how it would look with my own weather tweaks which needed the vanilla weather.
Hello.
On some Japanese site that has since been password protected, I’ve seen screenshots of a public toilet with a line of urinals, and he said it was from Aether Suite. However, I could not find it Aether Suite. The floor was black and white tile. It resemble the Undergrind toilet, but there was only stalls there.
Is it possible to get either the location or a hint as to where these urinals are?
Thank you very much.
In addition, I want to praise your work very much. It is… incredible, there is no other word. Real talent there, great environment. The nightmare was actually scary as shit, and I’m not easily scared by video games.
I’m sorry to say you seem to have been misled. While it’s true the undergrind has a toilet, as you mentioned, there are no urinals in my mod, only toilet stalls.
The only mod I know of containing urinals is q world: http://modtype.doorblog.jp/archives/41313654.html
Other than that, I’m not sure where to direct you, I’m afraid.
Thank you very much for your reply.
The person in question has removed the password protection – I think he had spammer.
These are the images I saw – and they greatly resemble your mod:

http://tepodon.blog.jp/archives/687237.html
Well, as the creator, if you say it’s not there, it’s definitly not there. Most likely a third party addition to your work by someone for his own personal use?
Yes. That location is definitely the Undergrind bathroom, but those urinals were certainly not made by me. In fact at least some of them look very much like the ones from Q World that I linked. I imagine as you suggested, the creator of the images added them.
Hi Halo. I am loving this mod. You can really tell a great deal of effort and love has gone into making this, the detail and work is outstanding and I’ve taken some really awesome screenshots using it along with your poser mod. Just one question regarding this mod = Any chance of a map? I’m struggling to find everything. I’ll even take a doodle on paper nothing fancy
Also sorry if this isn’t the place but regarding your poser mod the object poses were working one day, then not the next and I cannot tell what I did in that time but what possible reason could there be for this and/or a possible fix? My character will go into the pose no problem but the item(s) let’s say – hat and cigarette etc aren’t there.
Thanks!
Firstly: I can’t be sure when the next update will be, but it WILL come with a map included. This is something that’s been requested a lot by both the public and my own friends, so it’ll be there, if nothing else, as a handy jpg.
Secondly: If you’re using an older version of XPMSE’s plugin for racemenu, that can mess things up, OR if you’re using poser hotkeys and turned my poser’s esp off, the objects won’t work because you’ve turned the esp off containing the forms. Object poses will not work without an esp containing the relevant objects.
That’s great to hear! I can’t wait for the new update! I reinstalled the poser mod and re did the FNIS update and re enabled any mods I had disabled just to be safe that seems to have fixed it. Thank you for the speedy reply! <3
Sorry to bother you again but just out of curiosity and this isn’t just your mod – Do you know a quick fix for restoring your character when they get stuck in a pose and cannot jump, attack etc. Usually I jump out of animations and I can do everything but every so often my character get’s stuck and so far the only fix I can find is completely re starting the game.
I used to have this issue really rarely, but I haven’t had it in a very very long time (years), and I’m afraid I never had an alternative solution.
hi I’m kinda new to Skyrim so far i enjoy roaming around the ”aether” but can you tell me if there is something special to find like special rooms or people (according to Blake the radio guy there’s a Senpai around) , you don’t need to spoil just give me some vague details
i love the matrix feel and music
No other people. Blake’s the only one. He’s just making silly self insert references to my own characters.
In terms of special things, some computers will take you to unique rooms if you activate them. One of the doors in Red Robin Plaza will take you to a tiny apartment with a secret. The key to Redoran Elementary is in Cecile’s office in the Undergrind, in a cupboard. Oh, and there’s a door under the stairs in the school.
OK cool I’ll try to find them (i found 1 computer-secret room) i also lost Mango my companion in there xd
Hi! I’m not a very close follower of your mods, but I noticed in your gallery a character named Lily.
http://screenshot.dysintropi.me/index.php/Skyrim/Lily
Is she available as a follower / npc / preset? I ask here because in the update notes, Lily is mentioned? Sorry for the trouble!
No, I haven’t made a follower of Lily. I did intend to at one time, but I later decided I have so many characters and update them so often, it would be far too annoying making followers out of everyone.
Hi Halofarm
First off thanks for your mods, they have always been an essential contribution. Skyrim screenarchery would have been awful without your posing mods, places like the Aether Suite, and all the other mods by people that you have inspired.
Now, i am here because i’m having a problem with the Aether Suite.
I use the Grim and Somber ENBs – Hircine preset ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50501/ ), which is balanced for vanilla lighting.
Indoors in the Aether Suite i often get very good results like this:
http://i.imgbox.com/y7KVh2bx.jpg
Then outdoors in other custom mods like “Stages Redux”, it seems to work just as good:
http://i.imgbox.com/qD5Ccso3.jpg
However, once i enter one of the outdoor areas in the Aether Suite (academy, knox) i see this:
http://i.imgbox.com/lIRptiu8.jpg
Same in the fake indoor areas of the academy:
http://i.imgbox.com/LyhbrY3V.jpg
I already talked to the author of the Grim and Somber ENBs about that, he only could recommend me other ENBs with somewhat similar visuals.
However – this must have something to do with the settings in the AS, since i haven’t seen any other place react like this.
Any ideas how i could fix this?
– TIA
Those interiors use exterior lighting. That’s the problem, and it can’t be fixed. Grim and Somber’s interior settings are obviously rather extremely unbalanced comparing to the exterior settings to the point they simply can’t work with fake exteriors. There’s nothing I can do about it, I’m afraid. I wouldn’t recommend changing ENB though. I’d recommend just not using those areas. I wouldn’t tell people to switch ENB just for the sake of my stuff.
I see, thanks for the fast reply.
Coffee brands, tobacco, ENB presets… changing them can be really painful
Well i actually got pretty good results in there with with presets like Tranquility ENB and K ENB, but these all heavily depend on SweetFX so they don’t work on Win10 anymore.
At least good to know what exactly the problem is, so thanks again and keep up your amazing work
the ghost house is so scary! It’s a master level.
