Aether Suite 2.8.0 – Bloodlines

Aether Suite v2.8.0

This update is pretty all over the place. I haven’t made any one big thing, instead, I’ve made lots of little things. Well, okay, not so little, but they’ll probably seem little to anyone using the mod.

Here’s the changelog:

  • Made Arbelle’s apartment an entire living space, complete with sitting room, kitchen, and bathroom.
  • Created a new minor hub area called Redoran Ward. Accessed from Red Robin Plaza.
  • Added an abandoned school, accessed from Redoran Ward. Key found in Undergrind Office.
  • Added a club, The Undergrind, accessed from Redoran Ward. Try pressing the switch behind the bar. Might have to press it twice. It doesn’t usually work first time.
  • Added the House of Dibella on Main Street. HOD sells all the armor and weapons previously found in Finnegan’s, and lots of custom versions of Hepsy’s Basic Wears, plus panties and socks.
  • Various fixes minor fixes.
  • Quite a lot of work went into this one, but it doesn’t particularly show, due to the small amount of content it actually added.

    The Aether Suite now comes with 3 warnings. Trigger warning, for disturbing images or situations in the nightmare portion, for those of you with severe phobias. Flashing/strobing lights warning in the undergrind, for those of you with photosensitive epilepsy. NSFW warning in the undergrind, for those of you who are… I dunno, I just know there was technically no NSFW content until now.

    EDIT: There were a couple of bugs in this release. The black jeans textures go to the original basic wears folder. If you don’t have basic wears, you’ll get missing textures. Also when you leave house of dibella you end up inside a window.

    Since I don’t release hotfixes, if you want to fix these issues, you’ll have to redownload the whole thing.

      Just curious, but what is the end goal with this mod? I love your creation so much, but it seems so desolate. Other than Blake, there are no NPCs or quests, but there is a lot of world building scattered around. I know you work hard on new areas and the like, but can we expect any story-type stuff anytime in the future?

        I’ve said a number of times in my posts about AS, there’s no “end goal”. It’s just me making things. I make places so I can take pictures in them. That’s what it’s for. I make little stories for my own amusement, or anyone who feels like reading them. The original idea for Knox was to be a quest mod, but that plan has long since been abandoned. The little bits of canon that you see here or there are just me tossing some of what would have been the story in. It’s a creation for the sake of pictures, and a modders resource for anyone who wants to use it.

        I don’t think a 600 watt will pull the weight of the GPU AND my CPU. They’re both pretty heavy. Probably why this one decided to shit the bed. (It was some stock piece of crap from when I built the machine that I never got to replacing). No worries though. I’ve got my eye on a nicely priced one that’s gold rated. It’s got everything I need, and hopefully I’ll be able to afford it sooner than later.

            I know my total power usage. My PSU was just old and apparently dying. Now dead. My rough wattage is around the 550W mark, but I would need a 650W for certainty, however, I will be getting an 850W, so no problems should occur.

      I seem to have some textures not loading, the black jeans and hotpants and a couple others. Mostly the black items. I’ve installed it twice, manually-same result.

        Oh. It seems they still rely on the original basicwears textures. My bad. Unfortunately I can’t really do much at the moment. I’ll release a fix in a few weeks. Until then your options are either install basic wears or put up with the problem until I get it sorted.

        …okay screw it. I’ll go fix it now. There’ll be a fixed version up in an hour or so.

      Hey Halofarm,

      I’m bruce142 on Skyrim Nexus who converted Stroti’s Bathroom from Oblivion to Skyrim (, adult only so login required).

      I took the liberty to mod and split the toilet lid from the rest of the toilets, so now you don’t need to alternate between two statics anymore. I had to make a new collision for the toilet itself (using box shapes, etc in 3dsmax), upside is that now objects can fall in the toilet bowl itself. The toilet lid is animated, meaning it will open and close like a door and I’ve attached a script to the toilet flush button which makes the water rise and drop. I’m trying to add compatibility with mods like Private Needs and Private Needs Discreet (both on LoversLab) so the toilet has some functional use but no success so far (which is strange as it did work with my Stroti’s Bathroom mod).

      Anyway, here are the files :

      Do what you will with these files, but it would be cool if you implement them in your future releases.

        We’ll see. It works fine as is. I’m not really interested in making it super functional. The opening and closing lids even was a bit of a joke in itself. I most certainly don’t have any interest in making it work with mods like Private Needs, but having it just animated could be nice, I suppose. I’m not sure what you were talking about with objects falling down the toilet. They already can. The collision mesh inside is exactly the shape of the toilet mesh. I shoved all my drugs down it to test it.

      How do you make bhkCompressedMeshShapes? I’ve tried ChunkMerge but it seems every time it fails : I apply single rigid bodies with Havok Tools in 3dsMax, set Shape to Mesh, add bhkRigidBody from Niftools, add both Single rigid bodies to bhkRigidBody, start up ChunkMerge, use ToiletOpen.nif as template, add model.nif (no collision) and collision.nif (only collision), set Collision source to Mesh data, Collision Material to Name of NiTriShape and get this error :

      Can’t get geometry from input file.
      verter returned code:
      – – – – – – – – – –

      One time it did succeed, but when the player collided with the toilet the game became really slow and I reverted back to my original method of adding box shapes to make the collision.

      About the compatibility with Private Needs and Private Needs Discreet, the only thing it does is disable and delete any poop that is laying in the toilet when you flush, I’m making it for my own playthrough as I’m kind of a realism guy (I have Frostfall, RND, Private Needs, Private Needs Discreet (for NPCs)): isn’t it strange that NPCs and the player don’t maintain their most basic human needs? I guess that’s why bandits are always angry, because they are constipated all the time :P.

        Okay, now I remember what I did to make it work, the collision file needs to be the same as the model file, so scratch the part about single rigid bodies with Havok Tools in 3dsMax, etc.

        Generally speaking I create a half poly version of the original model then use chunkmerge to generate the collision file. Put that nitrishape into a ninode, then put the animated part into a separate animated ninode with a separately generated collision mesh.

          I’ve fixed the collision issue by modifying the _PNUtilityScript not to play any animation while sitting.

          Here is the latest version of my modification to your mod.

          Changelog :

          – Used bhkCompressedMeshShape method to make collision.
          – Rearranged numbered items (00toiletxx, 00toiletlidxx, 00KnoxToiletWaterxx, ToiletWaterMarkerxx, ToiletWaterEmptyMarkerxx, ToiletFlushButtonxx in the KnoxTheUndergrindToilets cell to correspond with the actual order of which the toilets appear left to right)
          -Corrected X Position values of 00toilets and the connected corresponding items to match the 64 unit per stall step increase you were aiming for.
          – Added 4 WaterStreams (= small waterfall) front, left, right and rear to flush effect.
          – Make the toilet water turn yellow if the player has relieved his/her bladder (Private Needs & Private Needs Discreet version only), for now only the relieve bladder function of Private Needs 4.0 will do this because the script checks for the script variable bladdercontent before and after urinating.
          – Clean up any excrements in the toiletbowl when flushing the toilet (Private Needs & Private Needs Discreet version only)
          – Fixed scripts so when you sit on the toilet when the toiletlid is closed, it will open itself.

          Normal version (No dependencies) :
          Private Needs & Private Needs Discreet version (download the latest versions of both at LoversLab) :

          I suggest trying out the Private Needs & Private Needs Discreet version as it has a few extra features compared to the normal version.

            Look man, if you want to do this stuff on your own machine, that’s fine, but can you stop trying to get me to put it into the mod? The reason I never made toilets before was precisely because I didn’t want any sort of toilets mechanics going on, which would be exactly what you’re doing here. Perhaps upload it elsewhere. Also, there wasn’t any “64 unit per stall” that I was aiming for. Any similarity to a specific unit size is coincidental.

        Quite possibly because of where you live. The server is fast for most, but slow for an unfortunate few in certain countries with slow gateways. There’s nothing I can do about it, I’m afraid.

            No. It’s hosted on my server quite specifically so that I can make sure the link is always the same. If I host mirror links, people who think they’re faster will link to those instead, and they’ll end up out of date (or dead). Also, if you live in the US and you’re having trouble, it’s likely your ISP. Most people I know in the US have no speed issues with my server whatsoever, but a couple do. Are you getting a broken download or just a slow one? If you’re getting an actual broken download because of the speed, I might be willing to drop the file on mega for you.

        Regarding the apartment, no, because it’s not the player’s home. It is Arbelle’s home.
        Regarding doors, you can get the spell book with a spell to teleport to the aether suite lobby from under one of the beds in the mages college. The lobby also has a door to come back to the mages college. It also supports followers just fine, as long as you use the spell. I have confirmed this with myself and other people.
        Regarding nexus, because I don’t want to upload it there.

      Just downloaded the Aether suite and all I can say is: WOW!
      I could walk down the main street with my Main char all day long….
      Its just wonderful, thinking about fictional stories, doing screenshots in that “bladerunner”-ish world.
      You just captured a wonderful mood with that location.

      And Blake is damn cute lol

      IIRC your mod is not packed by BSA.

      Would you pack your textures and other loose files into one BSA file?
      So I could upgrade easily.

        No. It has been explained before why I won’t, and I will continue not doing it. My resources are too big for one uncompressed bsa, and in a compressed bsa, they cause crashes on slower rigs. Also, it makes the download much larger, which is another complaint I get often. You’d be able to upgrade just fine if you used one of the many mod managers out there. I recommend wrye bash, personally, but NMM and MO will work too.

      I really like your Aether’s ambience & atmosphere, but also your texture’s quality. Unobtrusive on first sight sometimes, but true delicacy like the grey carpet or even the walls. I love those immersive details, my deep respect for your expertise.
      i have thought how it could be possible to add smoke to the cigarettes? Candles have it, but they are static objects. A mod from LL adds ‘dripping’ to the character’s pelvis, which falls naturally even while moving the body.
      Do you have an idea how i could technically add smoke to the cigs? .. FO3 had those neat animations to let NPCs smoke. Well, ok, Skyrim’s inhabitants haven’t found out about the joy of an unhealthy but relaxing smoke yet :D

        I believe it has to do with attaching a the smoke emitted to a specific bone using text strings but honestly it was never something I was too focused on, because the Skyrim smoke effect probably wouldn’t look very good on cigarettes.

      The vanilla Skyrim smoke effect would be too massive, yep. But based on the vanilla i would try to make a more thin, bluish smoke. Whatever, i’ll check a bit.
      Uhm, don’t worry, this won’t become a *working toilet-lid*-story ;)

        Well, unlike the toilet stuff, actually smoking cigarettes would be a nice addition. It wasn’t so much the actual size of the smoke effect, but just the overall type. It’s made for bonfires and torches. Cigarette smoke has a much more… snakelike feel to it, as it moves through the air waves. Bonfire and torchsmoke is much heavier and coming from an open flame, it goes very directly upwards where the heat waves from the fire direct it.

        No. I’ll tell you how to get to main street though. You find a teleport spell under one of the beds in the hall of attainment, winterhold mages college, you use the spell, take the right hand door, leave the apartment, go straight ahead until you can turn left, then turn left, and exit the alley at the other end. Now you’re on main street.

            Well, there are lots of doors on main street. Only one of them leads to House of Dibella.

            Perhaps Aether Suite is not installed correctly?

      Halo any chance you could add more photo studio sections? something like what Nausicaa did but better built with more options? maybe like photo studio areas but with scenery in the room or back-drops or something? maybe monsters/enemies that don’t attack you but that you can command to go into select poses/animations for u?

        You can clean the ones in Aether Suite, sure. Those are just from editing the Hall of Attainment. No idea about Lorebane Manor. I didn’t make that.

      I’ve personally added around 10 teen schoolgirls *ahem* I mean ‘college girls’ o:), a school nurse in the infirmary, and a patrolling school governess to the Skyrim Academy with some class attending routines n stuff – it’s really nice have a bit of life around the place. :) If I could make quests, it’d probably turn into a dating game of some variety lol.

      Hm. I don’t have Bloodlines yet… that’d require more work again. *sigh* Our work is never done, eh?

      Finally came across that lorebane manor mod myself and wonder if you both got the resources for Aether/Knox from a website. Which one was it? I’ve been in KnoxWarehouse and can tell the roof was not one you made. I’ve been picking up where you left off for my own interests, mind sharing the website address?

      Also, thanks for the Pinups throughout this time of Skyrim modding, I now make my own after a real easy tutorial I found on LoversLab. Gotta say, it was easier than I thought this whole time. I always wondered why you never put out a tutorial on it but i guess its because it would defeat the purpose of

        Uhh, I don’t know why you’d think the warehouse roof wasn’t one I made, but absolutely every mesh in Aether Suite was either made by me, or remodelled from vanilla. The exception to that is for the clothing in house of dibella, and even some of that was made by me. I don’t make all my textures, but any photorealistic ones usually come from free-to-use resources. Paricularly mayang, which is right there in the readme. I credit when I use other people’s resources. That would be why I never credited anyone for the things I’ve made.

        I never made a pose tutorial because I didn’t want to. I’ve given people the basics in the past, including starter files, the tutorial that taught me (not for Skyrim, but it’s the same thing) and information on how to do it, and the response was always “This is too hard”. I don’t release tutorials because I’m not a good teacher, and I don’t want to spend all my days re-explaining the tutorial videos. Whenever people ask me how to make poses, I give them links to things which will tell them how better than I could. Also, this is very clearly not “”. I encourage other people to make poses. I even made public poser so people could have a place to put their custom poses without having to overwrite mine and hope I never fill the empty space.

      Hi Halo¡ I was reading the comments on here and they sort of made me feel depressed… I dont know how you put up with some people, but I admire you for it. I just wanted to say that you really are -to me atleast- the best modder/person I encountered on the web. I really appreciate the dedication and love -It might not be your intention, but I can certainly feel it- you put into this nice little warm website…. I really like to come here every once in a while just to feel this cozy place… I also want to compliment you -I know this isnt much , but it’s all I got :( – on how amazing your mods are, especially this one (the aether suit).       Good day,

      I really appreciate this mod (Aether Suite) and have to say well done in all the work you put into it and the updates you released for it. I am one of those “gotta be lore-friendly’ ‘immersive” kind of skyrim players, but even I enjoyed THE HECK out of this mod. I spent countless hours exploring the new world with laughter and tears……and all kinds of different emotions. I really hope you keep working on this project and add many more areas, whether it be for photo-junkies or for ”sheets” and giggles. As I, even still today, play a lot with this mod and would really love to see it grow and expand.

      I have cdt, like a lot, I can’t stand in the appartment or nearby the room where you can teleport your self (the door next the academy, on the left.). I haven’t try to go elsewhere yet, but I was wondering if you had any clue on why it does this.

        Try this:

        Drop it into your /Data/SKSE/Plugins/ folder. It’s the hdtskyrimmempatch.dll that used to be included with HDT Physics Extensions. It doesn’t matter if you use HDT Physics Extensions or not. It’s still helpful. It has fixed crashes for people in the Aether Suite in the past, and I use it for the same reason.

      I hope you are better by now.
      Just came to mind if you will jump on FO4?
      If so, i assume you will just game for a while .. but later maybe .. something like the Aether? :)

        Yeah, I will indeed be jumping over to FO4, but there won’t be much to mod there until the CK comes out early next year, so I won’t be leaving Skyrim for good, at least not just yet.
